Kimberley back on Boil Water Notice

Warm weather quickening the runoff, turbidity at 15 NTU average

Kimberley residents are asked to boil water as high turbidity is again being recorded in the Mark Creek system.

City Manager of Operations Mike Fox says that due to the warm weather over Wednesday night and continuing through the day Thursday, average turbidity has risen to 15 NYU. Above 5 NTU is considered poor quality.

“The slide event earlier this week could also be a factor, where this would act as a ditch and channel the water down an area with exposed soils causing increased amount of silt in the water, which would cause more turbid conditions.”

Fox says that with rain forecast for the weekend, it is likely the Boil Water Notice will remain in effect until at least next week.

This  is the second Boil Water Notice this week for Kimberley.
