There have been some changes with the Kimberley Chamber of Commerce recently, and more are coming, says Board member Karen Rempel.

First of all Manager Mike Guarnery is no longer with the Chamber.

Repel says that in due time, the Board will hire another manager, likely in the later spring, but not right now.

In the meantime, the Chamber board members have been doing strategic planning.

“We are really excited about it,” Rempel said. “We have a lot of young entrepreneurs with lots of great new ideas.”

The biggest Chamber-managed event of the year is JulyFest, and Rempel says that is going on as planned.

Rempel herself is heading up the planning as coordinator, as she did last year.

The Chamber office is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day. Rempel is manning the office right now as she dives into JulyFest planning, but she invites any business person who wishes to stop in, to do so.

“If any business has any concerns, I can help or have another board member help,” she said.

Right now the focus is on a membership drive, as well as renewing memberships.

“There is so much the Chamber can do for your business, in terms of provincial and federal advocating, training workshops and more,” she said. “We really urge all businesses to join.”

The Chamber is changing up the Business After Business sessions. This year it’s Business Beers, an opportunity for members and business owners to get together in a casual setting.

The first Business Beers will be January 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the Kimberley Elks.

“We will do it once a month at different venues, supporting different businesses,” Rempel said.

The Chamber AGM is scheduled for May this year, with the election of new board members.

Also Rempel says that anyone wishing to rent the Platzl gazebo in the summer months should contact the Chamber office to book dates.
