The sale of industrial lands in Marysville to Tyee Homes, begun under the former Mayor and Council last year, was finalized this week by new Mayor and Council.
The 14.8 acres of light industrial lands in Marysville are located just behind Chalet Chev, near Columbia Salvage.
The city will sell the parcel for $175,000 subject to conditions, including charge to be registered against the property in favour of the Seller requiring the Buyer to construct an office/shop building and to subdivide the property; and the installation of one (50mm) water connection to the property.
Mayor Don McCormick says the covenants are in place to protect the City.
“Our goal is to ensure the property doesn’t sit dormant like the old Watkins School property,” he said. “The buyer will need to start construction in a certain time and start the subdivision by next fall.”
McCormick says that subdividing the property and offering a lot with a building should appeal to the type of light industrial business the city wants to attract, and allow those businesses to develop more quickly.
