The Kimberley Pipe Band was in Trail, B.C. on Saturday, May 4 for the city’s Spring Fling event, held to commemorate the Trail Pipe Band’s centenary.
The event featured a showcase of eight different pipe bands, who individually marched through downtown Trail. The bands were then judged on their “dress and deportment,” according to Trail Pipe Band major Will Bain in an interview with Castlegar News.

The Kimberley Pipe Band took third place overall. Following the individual marches and judgement process, there was a mass band where all bands marched down the street together.
The Kimberley Pipe Band are now hard at work to prepare for the sold-out “Cèilidh on the Mountain” event on Saturday, Jun. 1 at the top of Northstar Mountain at Kimberley Alpine Resort.
Pronounced kay-lee, a cèilidh is a Gaelic word for a traditional Scottish and Irish social gathering. This event at KAR will serve as a fundraiser for the Pipe Band’s coming year.
In addition to a performance from the Pipe Band, the event will feature a scotch tasting, barbecue and performances from the local Highland Dancers and from Lennan Delaney, a local musician with Celtic roots.
