Columbia River Revelstoke voters will have plenty of choice in the upcoming provincial election as a fourth candidate has come forward.

Laurel Ralston, from Kimberley, will run for the Green Party.

Ralston is a familiar face in Kimberley through her involvement in music and the arts — the local jazz scene, the Kimberley Community Band and Kimberley Arts Council/Centre 64. She has also run for City Council.

Ralston says she is running to give Greens in this riding a voice.

“I’m running for the Green Party because it’s looking at the big picture of our province’s future — not just a few years along, but generations along — and asking how all the pieces will fit together.”

“I live in Kimberley, where I work as a writer and musician, and serve as president of the Kimberley Arts Council.

“I am a dedicated and respected community leader and a strong believer in the power of a collaborative, transparent approach to governance. You can find out more about me at”

Ralston’s campaign is looking for volunteers to make phone calls, put up signs and more.

She is also seeking donations.

“Even a small amount means a lot to a small campaign,” she said. “And with BC’s tax credits for political contributions, a $100 donation gets you a $75 tax credit, a $250 donation gets you a $150 tax credit and a $500 donation gets you a $275 tax credit.”
