Kimberley's story continues to unfold

Story & Co. sign on for third part of contract; webite renewal

Kimberley City Council has renewed its contract with Story & Co. to complete the third and final phase of their branding project, website redesign.

Last fall, the City of Kimberley contracted with local, award-winning firm Story & Co. to tell Kimberley’s story and come up with a consistent message upon which to base marketing.

The process began with community engagement and gathering feedback on just what Kimberley residents and visitors perceived Kimberley’s story to be. Since January Story & Co. has been meeting with the City’s economic development staff as they fine-tuned the brand.

“This is the key phase on the roll out of the brand,” said the City’s Director of Economic Development, Kevin Wilson. “The City’s website is becoming the most important way to communicate. It’s important that the website reflect the brand vision. The goal is to compel people to action, to create emotion.”

Wilson said the website will be ready before the brand roll out, because as soon as the brand is released it’s important to direct people somewhere.

Mayor and Council had high praise for City staff involved in the process, saying they felt fully informed as it went along.

“I’m looking forward to this project becoming visible,” said Coun. Darryl Oakley. “And it has stayed on budget.”

“Story & Co. has been dead accurate on the estimates they gave us,” said Coun. Don McCormick. “This is the natural next step. To not do this website renewal now would leave us two thirds of the way through the project.”

The final portion of the contract is worth $24,150 including taxes.
