We have received the 8-10 cm of snow expected [12-15cm in higher elevations] another 5 to 8 cm is expected before it tapers off in the early afternoon.  Temperatures are forecasted to warm up over the weekend though we can another blast of snow is heading our way Saturday night.

With the warm temperatures, the snow will start to melt causing pooling water and water run off.

Home owners with driveway access on to Provincially maintained roads are reminded that it is their responsibility to insure driveway drainage appliances [culverts] are kept clear and maintained so to allow the water run off to flow freely.

Mainroad crews are out in full force clearing, sanding and salting as requires. As always, motorists should leave extra time and be frequently checking www.drivebc.ca for road conditions and it would be advisable to check Environment Canada for any weather warning or alerts before setting out on a trip.

Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting 24 hour hotline: 1-800-665-4929.  Please report road hazards and unsafe conditions.  This hotline is used to update DriveBC, dispatch additional personnel and record public communication as required.
