North Star Days at Kimberley Alpine Resort

Beloved spring party draws huge crowd

North Star Days, Kimberley Alpine Resort’s annual spring party, took place this year on Saturday, Mar. 30.

The event was a huge success, drawing a massive crowd of neon-clad revellers who were treated to beautiful weather, fun spring skiing conditions, great music and plenty of food and beverages.

Skiers and snowboarders battled it out in the mogul and banked slalom competitions, and prizes were also dished out for things like best goggle tan, best costume, best dressed pet, best hair and more.

Music was provided by local DJ Robbie C who then handed over the stage to the always entertaining Mile High Club, who blasted through dozens of hits from the past several decades.

The resort had entertainment for all ages, with a huge kids’ zone, with face painting, games and plenty of Easter eggs.

Next up, to wrap up the 2023/24 season, the resort has Spring Splash and the Dummy Downhill coming up on Saturday, Apr. 6 and Sunday Apr. 7, respectively.

To register for the pond skim and your chance at glory in front of a crowd of hundreds, head to the Plaza at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

The beer gardens, Kidz Zone, barbecue and DJ Ray all launch at 11 a.m., with the epic pond skim challenge beginning at 1 p.m. At 3 p.m. Kootenay indie rockers Shred Kelly will make their return to the Plaza.

Sunday’s festivities also kick off at 11 a.m., with the return of the beer garden, barbecue, Kidz Zone and DJ Ray. Registration for the Dummy Downhill, and dummy drop off, is at 10 a.m.

Music will kick off at 12 p.m. with local bards Lennan and McQuaid. The always-hysterical Dummy Downhill kicks off at 2 p.m. To close down the year-end party, Kimberley’s own The Honeymans will start up at 3 p.m.
