The preliminary votes have been cast for a proposed rural fire protection service that would service properties in the Wycliffe and St. Mary Lake Road areas.
Thus far, the majority of voters in the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK), have demonstrated that they are not in support of the proposal.
A total of 183 ballots were cast in the preliminary Kimberley Rural Fire Protection Service Assent Vote, with 120 voting no and 63 voting yes.
The official election results will be declared on Wednesday, October 30 at 1:00pm by the Chief Election Officer, with a news release to follow.
