More prescribed burning is coming up this week, this time in the Kootenay River Ranch area, about eight kilometres south of Canal Flats, adjacent to Hwy 93/95.

the burn is planned for about 80 hectares and could start as early as this Thursday, April 11, conditions permitting.

Key goals of this prescribed burn include:

• Enhance wildlife habitat, • Support water quality objectives, • Address forest health issues associated with overly dense tree stands, and • Reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires in the area.
