RCMP search for man who barged into Elkford home

Unknown man follows resident inside after slapping her

Elk Valley RCMP are searching for a man involved in an incident  of unlawful entrance into  an Elkford residence on October 27.

Cpl. Gerry Sliworsky said police received a call at around 1:20 a.m. from a woman after she'd returned home to find an unknown male standing at the front door.

She didn't recognize him and told him to leave, then attempted to call 911. The man slapped her and she dropped the phone. She then fled to the bathroom and locked herself in.

She could hear the  man trying the bathroom door handle, but then noices ceased until a short while later when  a family member showed up at the residence.

An investigation showed that the rear door to the residence was open and  footprints on the frost covered lawn indicated the man had most likely exited from there.

The woman was not physically hurt in the incident, said Swiworsky.

He said police are seeking the public's assistance in trying to identify the male.

The man is described as a white male, 24 to 30 years of age, approximately 6'3 in height and wearing a black sweater and blue jeans.
