There are races and then there is Round the Mountain. While the upcoming race around North Star Mountain on June 21 may only be in its fourth year, it has become a must-do event for many trekkers, runners and cyclists from Western Canada and further afield.

And the racers love it for the trail, the organizing and the festive atmosphere.

You can read racer testimonials at roundthemountain.ca

“Your event last year had the best family atmosphere of all the events I’ve been to since I came to Canada in 2009. And that’s the biggest reason for me to come back again this year. It’s in my racing calender :-)” - Jakub Sumbera, 2011 40k Duo winner.

“Great to see all of the kids enjoying themselves whether partaking in the races or playing in the creek.  Just an all around super day!!!!!” - Joanna Sokolic, Trekker.

Another sign of the event’s popularity is registration. It’s a sell out every year and it’s filling up quickly again in 2014. As of this week, nearly 300 people have signed up to trek, run or mountain bike the RTM Trail.

Round the Mountain offers 20 km runs or mountain bike races or, a 40 k duo of biking and running. There is also a shorter 10 k run as well as various kids races, and hikes.

Register at roundthemountain.ca. Registration closes June 12.
