Kimberley Riverside Campground is putting on a concert and dinner on Saturday, May 11 as a kickoff to their season and a fundraiser to build a new disc golf course.

Over Time Beer Works will be on hand as of 1 p.m. to get the fun-filled day started. At 3 p.m. Velvet Vixen will take the stage. Comprised of the talented Drew Prinn on vocals and Matt Lamb on guitar, the duo have dozens of love songs in their repertoire, spanning the best of the 70s, 80s, 90s and everything since.

Dinner is at 5 p.m. and will consist of smoked ribs, chicken, coleslaw and potato salad and can be ordered in advance by calling 250-427-2929.

Dinner is $25 plus taxes, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to fund the new disc golf course, in addition to one dollar from every Over Time beer sold.

Daniel Holden, Riverside Campground general manager, said the new course will replace the old, overgrown course on the site with a proper 18-hole disc golf course. The campground is working with the Cranbrook Disc Golf Club who will tackle the design of the course and Holden said the City of Kimberley is on board as well.

Construction of the course is set to begin this fall, and it will be free to play for everyone, not just campers. Holden said they already have two hole sponsors and they are looking for more. If you or your business would like to sponsor a hole at Kimberley’s new disc golf course, the price is $600 and you can contact their front desk to learn more.

The weather for Saturday is predicted to be beautiful, with temperatures around 25 C in the afternoon, a welcome change after so much cold and rain so far this spring.

There are plenty of campsites available if you’d like to camp for the night — a great chance to shake out your tent or make sure your trailer is up to snuff before the summer begins.
