Cranbrook Safeway was evacuated Thursday afternoon, the parking lot blocked off by City and Emergency Personnel vehicles, and police summoned to the store. Police later said the incident was likely a prank, similar to other incidents that have taken place around the province in recent days, originating out of the country.
The Castlegar Safeway was also evacuated Thursday afternoon, for a similar reason.
