Spring Fling ends Phoenix Mountain’s season

Last day celebrations include Dummy Downhill

The downhill ski and snowboard season had a colourful sendoff on Phoenix Mountain, with the annual Spring Fling, featuring the Dummy Downhill bidding farewell to the 2023/24 season. Families were invited to create floats and dress mannequins in the theme of a circus, then have them towed up the hill to see which ones would make it down, clear a jump and survive the landing. Dummies ranging from clowns, a seal, elephant, popcorn and a carload of balloons all were sent to their fate, with crowds cheering them on. All the while, people were encouraged to dress in their favourite carnival costumes. Live music from local rock band Mad Dog 20/20 kept the party going while skiers and snowboarders got in their last runs.
