Two major air carriers are expanding capacity at the Canadian Rockies International Airport, beginning this month.
Both WestJet and Air Canada have enhanced their schedules with additional weekly service, bringing a combined total of 48,000 more seats annually to the East Kootenay region, compared to the same period in 2024,
Each airline has added three new Q400 flights per week, resulting in approximately 24,000 additional seats per carrier for 2025.
This expanded capacity reflects strong demand for both leisure and business travel to and from the Canadian Rockies, as well as growing confidence in YXC as a vital transportation hub for southeastern British Columbia.
