July 17, 1939 - June 26, 2021
Adi Unterberger passed away peacefully at the age of 81 in the early hours of Saturday morning, June 26th, 2021 in his home in Kimberley, BC. Adi was born July 17, 1939 in Innsbruck, Austria; he immigrated to Canada as a young adult and he worked as a plumber at the Vancouver School board. Eventually, he transitioned to an entirely different career where he took singing lessons and taught himself how to yodel and carve, later making a name for himself as the Yodelling Woodcarver. Adi had a passion for music and lived out his dream, entertaining for people all around North America and Hawaii. Some of the highlights of his career include being invited to perform at the Expo 86 in Vancouver, B.C., and by the Austrian Olympic Committee at the 2010 Olympic Games all while promoting the city of Kimberley. Adi is survived by his wife Erika, son Franzi and daughter-in-law Andrea, daughter Christina and son-in-law Jeff, granddaughter Adelaide, and son Andreas and Katie. We miss him so dearly and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kimberley and Cranbrook Food Banks. A funeral service is schedule for July 31, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 502 Church Ave, Kimberley, B.C.
