Albert Brigl

1942 - 2017

Albert Brigl passed away at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook on May 18, 2017 at the age of 74 years.

Albert is predeceased by Renate, his wife of 45 years, as

well as parents Jakob and Ida and brother Oskar.

Albert is lovingly remembered and missed by his

three daughters Gundula Brigl of Nelson, Ursula Brigl

of Cranbrook and Sonja Vogel along with his son inlaw

Paul Vogel and grand-daughters Isabel and Lina of

Calgary.

Albert was born in Munich, Germany on June 27, 1942.

His youth was spent outdoors and in the study of fine

art. He was apprenticed into the printing business at

14. He also became an accomplished photographer

and cameraman, documenting his many adventures.

After meeting his wife Renate while ski instructing, the

couple married and had two daughters. They explored

much of Europe together but had a dream of mountains

and wilder places. In 1979, the family moved to

Cranbrook.

In 1981, a Canadian daughter was born and Albert

built the family home in Gold Creek. He worked for

and eventually became the owner of Welo Windows in

Sparwood. On weekends, he could be found hiking or

at the cabin on Kootenay Lake - kayaking, sailing, and

creating a place of beauty and peace.

In his retirement, his greatest joys were the births of his

two grand-daughters. He cared for his ailing wife and

became content with the smaller joys in life, always

reveling in the beauty of the world around him. His

paintings, ! lm and videos are a legacy of a life lived to

the fullest.

At Albert’s request there will be no service. In lieu of

flowers, donations may be made to the Southstar

Recreation Society.

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
