Allan Lawrence Streich

February 6, 1953 – March 20, 2022
In Loving Memory ~
It is with profound sadness that the family of Allan Streich announce his sudden passing at the age of 69, after a hard-fought battle with multiple medical conditions.
Allan was born in Kimberley to Andrew and Mary Streich. He grew enjoying the outdoors: camping, hunting, fishing and participating in boxing, baseball and men’s fastball. He graduated from Selkirk Secondary School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Education degree at The University of British Columbia.
After marrying his high school sweetheart, Barb, he taught in Mackenzie, BC for two years before returning to Kimberley where he taught physical education for 30 years at both McKim and Selkirk schools.
Although taken from us too early, he left a lasting impression on many of his students and all those who knew him. He was well known as “COACH STREICH, STREICHER and BIG AL.” He coached all sports, but his passion was coaching volleyball. Allan retired in 2008 to continue his love of camping and fishing.
Allan was a selfless, devoted and protective husband and father…. An Alpha-personality coach with a kind soul. He lived for his family and always supported their ambitions. He was a generous and loving man who enjoyed cooking his famous ribs, brisket and Al burgers for family and friends…. “Gobble Gobble.”
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Barb of 46 years; children: Kristen (Dennis); Sean (Agnes); Daneen (CJ); six grandchildren, Nevaeh, Jayden, Natalia, Ashley, Abby, and Nora; brother Bob (Carla); sister in-law Fran (Dan); brother in-law Walter (Anne) and many more relatives and friends.
At Allan’s request, there will be a private family celebration at a later date.
Thank you to the many nursing professionals who were involved in Allan’s care over the last three years.
His family is considering creating a scholarship in his name. More information to come.
