Anita Clark

It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, Anita Clark on November 28, 2024 at the age of 87.

Anita was born on February 7, 1937, in Pincher Creek, Alberta, where she started her teaching career and family with her late husband Steve Yaklin. She was a devoted mother to her children Randy and Llon. She later moved to Calgary, where she met Albert Clark and had a son, Dan. Anita and Albert lived in Calgary for many years before Albert's passing. In 2016, she moved to Kimberley, BC, to be close to family. Anita is survived by her brothers Leo and Alvin, three sons and their wives, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. There are many family and friends in Pincher Creek, Calgary, and Kimberley who will miss her dearly. She had more of an impact than she realized.

Anita was a gentle, kind, generous and welcoming soul, often putting others' needs before her own. She was very independent and lived a fulfilling life until her very last day. Anita was curious and had a passion for life-long learning. Music was an important part of her life and she played the piano, french horn, guitar, and ukulele. She worked at the Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary for many years and was part of the Kimberley Community Choir and Band all the years she lived in Kimberley. She was a master seamstress, and quilting may have been her super power. She created over 100 quilts which she gave freely to family, friends, and fundraisers. Anita was an avid reader, baseball fan, and enjoyed travel, especially trips focused on the history, art, and culture of Europe.

Two services will be held in her honour and all who knew Anita are welcome to attend:

• In Pincher Creek, a funeral service will be held on January 25th, 2025 at 10:00am at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Pincher Creek, followed by her internment at the Fairview Cemetery. A gathering at the Heritage Inn in Pincher Creek is scheduled from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.

• In Kimberley, a Celebration of Life will be held on January 26th, 2025 from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at Centre 64 in Kimberley, BC.
