With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Fink (nee Maczek), of Cranbrook, BC
at the age of 71 years on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.
Barbara was born on January 20, 1947 in Melville, SK. She was one of 8 children. She moved to Regina, SK in her late teens where she met her future husband Robert "Bob" Fink. Together they had their first daughter Sherry. The family then journeyed to Toronto, ON, where they had their second daughter, Shannon. After a few years they returned to Regina, SK to continue raising their family and working. After settling back in Regina, they opened their home to family and friends. Barb was always one to welcome anyone to her home and coffee pot. There was hardly ever a weekend that someone wasn't staying over. Summers were filled with lots of nieces and nephews visiting. She took them to museums, parks, the exhibition and any other fun event happening. She became a second mom to most of Sherry and Shannon's friends and it was not uncommon for these friends to hang out there even when the girls were not home.
Eventually they moved to Sparwood, BC to retire but retirement was boring and they opened a flooring business. After many successful years, it was time to retire again. They moved back to Saskatchewan, this time settling in Weyburn for a number of years. But BC called them back so off they went to live in Cranbrook. They joined the Canadian Snowbirds club and alternated their time between Cranbrook and Palm Springs up until Barb was diagnosed with Cancer which she fiercely battled.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Pauline Maczek, her sisters Marlene (Rudy) Schnell and Mary Alice Weedon, and brothers-in-law Wayne Fink, Howard Fink and Wayne Chambers.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Robert "Bob" Fink, daughter Sherry (Chisholm) Miller; daughter Shannon (Jason Helfrick) Fink-Helfrick and children Victoria Fink and Chase Fink-Helfrick, her siblings Ken (Carol) Maczek, June (Harvey) Lutz, Diane (Marvin) Hoffmann, Larry (Charlotte) Maczek and Linda (Jerry) Bowman as well as in-laws Diane Chambers, Ron (Lynn) Fink, Darlene Fink, Dolores (Leroy) Lazarick, Valerie (Dean) Berard, many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at a later date.
