In Loving Memory ~

Darrel passed away peacefully in Kimberley on October 25, 2024 at home, at the age of 80 years.

Darrel was born and raised in Kimberley, enjoying all the outdoor activities a person could want - swimming, skiing, hunting and fishing. When he finished school, he went to Vancouver to take up barbering, but when the hippy movement ended that career, he came home to find employment. Darrel enjoyed working with Cominco at the fertilizer plant and retired his career at the mine in 2001.

Darrel is lovingly remembered by his brother, Fred Varley, of Edmonton; his sister, Janis (Bill) Wiebe of Calgary; his niece Lisa (Jim) Crayford of Calgary and their son, Jordan; and niece Kristina (Zoltan) Nevelos of Calgary and their children, Joshua, Madelline and Matthew all from Calgary. Darrel was predeceased by his parents Charlotte and Fred Varley.

Darrel loved the outdoors and enjoyed cross-country skiing, when he was able. Hunting and fishing with his retired friends was something he looked forward to. He had taken up swimming again, which he enjoyed immensely.

We thank the Home Care nurses and doctors who guided Darrel through his failing health. Memorial donations in Darrel's name may be made to the charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
