It is with great sadness that the family of Deanna Ford announces her sudden passing on December 27th at the age of 56.

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Deanna is survived by her husband Simon; her children Shawna (Chris), Cassie (John) and Corey (Spice); her grandchildren Ryon, Rory and Eliot; her mother Della; her siblings Loren (Robert), Glen (Marlene), Susan and Kevin; and her many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her father Gerald, and her brother Terry.

The fourth of six children, Deanna was born in McBride, BC. She began her schooling in Nakusp before moving to Cranbrook in 1971 where she settled permanently.

In high school Deanna met her husband Simon. They were married in 1980 and shortly after started a family together.

Deanna worked at the Heritage Inn for several years out of high school, and made the decision to go back to school at the age of 30. Always passionate about children, Deanna had decided to become a teacher. She worked in several classrooms in Cranbrook, before finding a permanent position teaching second grade at Amy Woodland.

Deanna loved the outdoors, and she and Simon spent much of their free time camping, hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing. She had an active social life and enjoyed spending time with her many close and lifelong friends.

She was a devoted and doting grandmother, and more than anything, “Deedee” loved spending time with her grandchildren.

A service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the Heritage Inn in Cranbrook, BC. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Deanna's memory to the School District 5 meal program at: 940 - Industrial Road #1, Cranbrook, BC, V1C 4C6.

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
