In Loving Memory ~

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mom with her loving family by her side, on January 21st, 2024 at the age of 87, at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Dorothy was born on October 10th, 1936 in Kimberley, B.C., in her grandmothers home which was eventually affected by the flood in 1948.

She grew up on a homestead in Cardston, Alberta. When Dot was of school age, she came back Kimberley to live with her Grandmother throughout the school year.

Family was first and foremost in Dorothy's priorities. She prepared Sunday dinner every Sunday. No invitation needed, just let her know you were coming. Dorothy was a fantastic cook. Her favorite times were camping at Kootenay Lake with family and friends.

Dot grew a garden that fed the whole family and more. Many walking the rails to trails commented on what a great garden she had. Her yard was always well manicured. She loved to dance, spending time with her friends at the senior's dances.

Dorothy had two open heart surgeries, both hips replaced and that slowed her down for just a short time. At 87 Dot prepared a full course Christmas dinner for her family.

Dorothy leaves to mourn her daughter Debbie (Bill) Muir, her son Kevin (Lori) Valin, 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces & nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband Frank Gordon, her second husband Karl (Scotty) Valin, an infant daughter Barbara, daughter Dianna Mackay and son David Gordon.

She will forever be in our hearts.

A Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Saturday February 17th, 2024 at 2:00 pm at McPherson's Funeral Home in Kimberley B.C.
