June 24, 1939 - January 21, 2019
It is with great deal of sadness that the family of Emily May (Sleith) Johnson announces her passing at East Kootenay Regional Hospital after a long illness on January 21, 2019 with husband Allan and son Bob at her bedside.
Emily was born in Yorktown, SK on June 24, 1939 to Alice and Charlie Sleith. She came to Kimberly at an early age and later to Cranbrook. On April 6, 1963 she became the military wife of Allan Johnson of Jaffrey and made St. Hubert P.Q. Cold Lake, AB, Northbay ON, and Edmonton, AB home. Her only son Bob was born in Greenfield Park P.Q., on October 12, 1964. Emily and Allan returned to Cranbrook in June 2002. She will be remembered as being soft spoken, thoughtful, prompt, and for her love of cats.
Emily was predeceased by her biological parents, Alice and Charlie Sleith, foster parents Pat and Sam McCleary, sister Peg (Glen) Thompson, brother Chuck (Dallas) Sleith, foster sisters, Nan and Betty, in-laws, Joyce and Bill Richter, and Judy and Max Atwood.
Left to remember her are husband Allan and son Bob, sister, Sally (Murray), brother, Jim (Judy) Sleith, in-law's Glen Thompson, Debby, Tim (Mary), Terry (Wanda), and numerous nieces and nephews including Daryl, Matthew, Chad, Alicia, Ashley, Sydney, Alana, Shannon, Rene, Maxine, Angie and special friends, Jill B., Mary U., and Carolyn F.
To honour Emily's wishes cremation has taken place and no funeral or service will be held.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date and the family would like to thank Dr. K. LaFaure and the nurses on the 3rd floor for their professional and very personal care and support.
