Garth Zorn

March 26, 2018

Jun 25, 1971 - Mar 26, 2018
Our world has been shattered and our lives have been changed forever with the tragic loss of our wild, kind and loving son and brother, Garth. Garth was torn from this world in a vehicle accident on the Alaska Highway just east of Teslin in the Yukon. His beloved dog and constant companion, "Romeo," was also taken in the incident.

Garth was born in Kamloops and raised in Cranbrook. After finishing high school, he attended SAIT and earned his Journeyman's ticket in sheet metal work. With his ticket in hand he set out for Watson Lake in the Yukon, where he established EZ Heating and Sheet Metal which he named in honour of the memory of his grandfather Ed Zorn. Eventually, Garth became a captain for the Watson Lake Volunteer Fire Department and found great fulfilment through his service as a firefighter and first responder.

Garth loved the rugged beauty of the northern wilderness and the awe inspiring magic of the auroras. His soul was warmed and nurtured by the enduring love of the northern people, particularly his Watson Lake friends.

He was a gourmet cook, who was known to roast his own spices, an avid hunter, fisher and trapper, and he loved to enjoy good times and several beers with his close pals. He loved his family, and spent long hours talking to his dad on the phone, and visiting with family when he could.

He leaves his dad, Wayne Zorn; mom, Georgina Flower; step-mom, Kathryn Kuczerpa-Zorn; and Sister Deana Zorn, to find their way without him. Garth was predeceased by his nephew Tyler Zorn.

Garth loved children and animals and was a champion for any child or animal whom he feared might be suffering in any way. A fund for Yukon children and animals has been established to ensure that Garth's good works continue.

Those wishing to honour Garth's memory and his legacy of caring may do so through a donation to the "Garth and Romeo Fund" which is overseen by the Watson Lake Fire Department Box 442, Watson Lake, Yukon YOA 1CO.

Wayne and Kathryn also wish to thank the remarkable people of the Watson Lake and the Yukon for their boundless unconditional love and their gift of profoundly healing support for we: his family.

We also thank our many wonderful Cranbrook pals for their kind support and care during this brutally difficult time.
