In Loving Memory ~
George Alan Wood, 69, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023, in Kimberley, BC. He was born on March 16, 1954, in Cranbrook, BC, to Franklin and Olga Wood.
George was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and dear friend to everyone he met. He had a heart of gold and would stop everything to give advice or lend a helping hand. George's dedication to his community was evident through his active involvement in various organizations. He volunteered for sled dog races, BC winter games, and citizen on patrol, making a lasting impact on the community he loved.
George's career began at Parks Hardware, where he worked alongside his father and uncle. Later, he joined Bavarian Hardware as a world-class clerk. In 1985, George took a leap of faith and bought Bavarian Sports and Hardware with his business partners and best friends, Barrie and Judy Peterson. George, Barrie, and Judy owned and worked at Bavarian Hardware until 2010 when they sold the business. However, George couldn't stay away and continued working at the store, cherishing the opportunity to see and serve the loyal residents of Bavarian Hardware.
Beyond his professional life, George had a wide range of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, and teaching many family kids how to ski. Hockey, golf, camping, and hiking with his beloved companions, Pal and Mocha, brought him immense joy. George also cherished hunting trips with his dear friend, Jack.
