Gerald Ira Tombaugh passed away at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on May 20, 2018.

Gerry was born on November 20, 1948 and raised in Salmo, BC. He met the love of his life Lynne in Trail and they were married there on June 6, 1970. They settled into Salmo and remained there until 1995 when they moved to Radium Hot Springs, BC and in 2007 onto Cranbrook, BC.

Gerry is predeceased by his father Ira, his mother Johanna and his son Kyle.

Gerry is survived by his loving wife Lynne, his son Matthew (Jo-Deane) his two children Katelyn and Megan, his daughter Tawnya her three children Marissa, Colton and Avril, his daughter-in-law Tara her son Tristan and his brother Don (Joan).

Gerry worked at CanEx Mines in Salmo then acquired his own business in Nelson. He then earned a Scaling license and worked for the BC Forest Service in both Invermere and Cranbrook until he retired.

Gerry liked travelling, camping, waterskiing and woodworking. He spent several winters in sunny Yuma, AZ. He became an avid golfer and geocacher.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ilona Amstutz for the kind and compassionate care that she had for Gerry. We would not have made it this long without her. Also a very warm thank you to the nursing staff on the EKRH especially the third floor. They were so kind and made Gerry so comfortable.

At Gerry's request there will be no service. Donations may be made on his behalf to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
