It is with great sadness that the family of Gloria Adair announce her passing at East Kootenay Regional Hospital, Cranbrook, BC on Thursday, June 6, 2019.
Gloria was born in Stellarton, NS on April 13, 1928 to Eugene & Lily (Munsie) Smith. She grew up in New Glasgow, graduated nursing school in 1949. She moved to Ontario in 1954 to continue her nursing career. She met and married Earl Soldan and raised 3 children there on the Soldan family farm. Earl passed away December 8, 1974. She continued her career in a Doctor's office for 7 years and retired at 60 in 1988.
Gloria later met and married Jack Cooper and they moved to Grande Prairie, AB in 1977. They were among the first owners at Brodie Manor and lived a good life until his tragic and sudden passing on January 8, 1996.
She shared 4 golden years with third husband Hudson Adair in Grande Prairie. They enjoyed many fun evenings playing cards with wonderful friends. Hudson passed away November 8, 2000.
Gloria stayed in Grande Prairie until September 2016 when she moved to Marysville, BC to be with her daughters. She lived her last years at Valleyview Lodge in Marysville with a view of the Purcell Mountains out her windows.
She was predeceased by her parents Eugene & Lily Smith, two sisters; Kay Lays and Dorothy Rae, two brothers; Bill & Bud Smith, her son Robert and husbands; Earl, Jack and Hudson.
Left to mourn her passing are her daughters Kathryn McIntyre, Karen Soldan, grandsons Justin & Kyle Babonau and Jack's son Tim, brothers John (Agnes) and George Smith.
Her giving nature and generosity will be missed by her family, many friends and neighbours. Her kind and loving ways will be missed by all. Condolences may be emailed to k.soldan@telus.net.
