In Loving Memory ~
Helen Patricia (Pat) Cox, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on the first nice day of spring.
Pat was born in Edmonton, the youngest of three children of Levi and Helen Nelson. The family moved from Alberta to Casino (Trail) where they lived for 5 years. She had many fond memories of attending school in a one room schoolhouse with her sister and her cousins.
The family moved to Kimberley when she was 14. Mom met Dad in high school and their lifelong relationship began after she completed business college.
Mother generously volunteered many years of service to the Marysville and Kimberley Hospital Auxiliary thrift shops. She also may have been one of their best shoppers. During summer months, Mom could be found working in her garden, evidenced by the stunning flowers and the dirt under her fingernails. She raised her kids with a solid foundation of good food and home cooking. Mom had a love for the outdoors and our home always included at least one pet.
Pat leaves to remember her, her children: Shari (Red), Jody (Sheila), Jamie, Lisa (Joe); grandchildren: Ryan (Chantelle), Lyndsey (Ryan), Ashley (Aaron), Tivohn (Katie), Karly (Mike), Taylor (Rebecca), Mara (Oliver), Eilish (Mitch), Eli and Reid; great-grandchildren: Kayte (Taylor), Isaiah, Jorja, Gavyn, Elise, Mikelle, Matthew, Kanami and Kane; and step-grandchildren: Walker (Chelsea) and Forrest (Sophia).
Her sister, Beverly Fisher; sister-in-law, Pat Nelson; brothers-in-law: Chris Sorenson and Rod Downey as well as several nieces and nephews.
Pat was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Jim, in 2008.
The family is grateful for the care and attention given by the staff at Garden View and the Pines Special Care Home. A special thank you goes to Andrea Wallace for helping us navigate Mom's final years and Dr Nash for his compassionate care.
A private family celebration of Pat's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her honour at the East Kootenay SPCA.
~The Serenity Prayer~
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the Wisdom to know the difference.
