Our beloved mother, wife, godmother, grand and great-grandmom, friend and gracious lady Ileane passed away peacefully with her daughter at her side on Friday, June 1st.

Ileane was born in Kimberley, BC, graduated from Kimberley High School, and was the town's first Snow Fiesta Queen in 1956. She lived, worked, and raised her family in Richmond, BC, before returning to the Kootenays to retire. Ileane was a great citizen of Cranbrook (CBK): volunteering for over 20 yrs for the CBK Hospital Auxiliary thrift store; starting and running the fund-raising concession van for the CBK Colts Booster Club, catering many local events (Wycliffe rodeo, Injured Motorcyclist Jamboree, air and dog shows, Sam Steele Days) along with her late sister, Diane Steenson; kept unofficial stats and billeted for the Kootenay Ice. Ileane was a very talented quilter and once won 'Best in Show' from the CBK Quilters Guild.

Ileane is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gordon; their daughter Michelle (Ken and son Josh); sister Shirley Hoppler (Bert and family); nephew Len Steenson (Dena); Lynn and Brian Zak; Gordon's children (Ray, David, Gina, and families); all of the Samperts (too many to name); and many wonderful friends.

The family wishes to thank Dr. van Rensburg and staff of Joseph Creek Care Village for their care and compassion.

A memorial service will be held for Ileane on Saturday, June 16 at 1:00 pm at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook (2200 - 2nd Street South).

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
