April 19, 1952 - April 17, 2019
It is with a deep sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of James Andrew Gilmar, on April 17, 2019 at the age of 66. Jim was born April 19, 1952 in Blairmore AB to parents

Roy and Bertha Gilmar.

Jim worked as a miner for 44 years until his retirement from Line Creek in 2018. Previous to settling in Elkford, he also worked at mines in Faro Yukon and Pine-Point NWT.

Jim was multi-talented and anything he took an interest in, he would excel at. He loved to put brush to canvas and paint, but he also enjoyed quiet, relaxing evenings at home, reading his latest novel or watching movies. Jim enjoyed swimming or casting his fishing line into the river, but his greatest passion was riding the open road on his Harley.

Jim leaves behind his wife of 9 years, Noemi Gilmar of Elkford; his daughter Maeia Castello (Aaron Nicholls) with his grandson, Paxton James Nicholls of Cranbrook; parents Roy and Bertha Gilmar of Kimberley; his brother Doug (Heather) Gilmar, also of Kimberly, and his sister Sandi (Marty) Hollingshead of Cranbrook as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and an extended family in the Philippines.

The Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Kimberley on Saturday, April 27th at 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers please donate to Jim's favourite charity, the BCSPCA.
