In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Jim in the Cranbrook Regional Hospital on June 16th, 2022, at the age of 68.
Jim was a kind, quiet, and gentle man with a quick wit and great sense of humor, who loved his family, the outdoors, cycling, playing guitar, travel, and spending time at the cabin. He was an excellent cook and very much enjoyed preparing feasts for everyone, making any occasion extra special. He spent his lifetime in the Kimberley and Cranbrook areas raising his children, and was employed at the Skookumchuck Pulp Mill for just over 40 years.
Jim is survived by his wife Tara, father Malcolm Sykes, son Sean Sykes, step-daughters Danielle Nosek (Jason), and Tricia Dewar (Chris), siblings Ann Ballard, Karen Sykes, Margaret Sponagle, Rob Sykes (Claudia), Malcolm Sykes (Zana), Mary Davies (Jamie), grandchildren Zoe, Shane, Zaine, Braeden, and Brody, and other numerous family members. He was pre-deceased by his Mom, Mona, and brother, Steven.
Jim's gentle, quiet presence, fun loving nature, and silly sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. The family will hold a celebration of life at the cabin at a later date.
