August 5, 1950 - July 15, 2018
With his family at his side at Vancouver General Hospital early Sunday morning on July 15, 2018, at age 68, Jim succumbed to the cancer that he had been fighting since last year. We lost a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, a very dedicated Rotarian and a very dear friend. Jim always seemed to have time for others, and gave so generously of that time, with sincere caring, kindness and a positive attitude.

His dedication to Rotary was outstanding, serving as president of the Rotary Club of Cranbrook in 1994-95, as well as treasurer and director at different times. He also served as District 5080 governor in 2000-01.

He will also be remembered for his many years at Shoppers Drug Mart in Cranbrook  where he touched so many of us in different ways, but again, all with caring and kindness.

Jim was born August 5, 1950 in Canton, China.  He is survived by his wife Helen, his mother Nui Vee Chiu, son Ryan Chiu and wife Flora, daughter Andrea Castellanos and husband Victor, and grandsons Ethan, Erik and Charles Chiu.

A small family service and cremation took place in Vancouver on July 19, 2018. The Rotary Club of Cranbrook and Jim's family will be hosting a memorial celebration of Jim's life will at the Heritage Inn in Cranbrook on Sunday August 19, 2018 at 2 pm.

We would love to hear you share your stories of how Jim touched your life.  Donations may be made to The Rotary Foundation and may be sent to The Rotary Club of Cranbrook, PO Box 7, Cranbrook, BC, V1C 4H6.
