January 28, 1986 - March 7, 2025

In loving memory ~

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts to announce the unexpected passing of Jerrod Lorne Bird. Jerrod was born on January 28, 1986, and graduated from Selkirk Senior Secondary School in 2004.

Many individuals and professionals offered assistance, unconditional love and understanding to help him along his journey. Consequently, he enjoyed skiing, bowling, and Beavers-Boy Scouts. He often talked of the Cub bus trip to sleep amongst the dinosaurs of the Royal Tyrell Museum.

He engaged with life enthusiastically, whether it was spending time with his family and friends camping and fishing, riding on the big yellow quad with Dad, spending time riding or leading horses, riding the Kimberley Bavarian Railroad, or cheering along his hometown Dynamiters!

Dave and Cindy would like to extend our special thanks to Doctors; Haiduk, Keyzer, and Lunge for the excellent care, support, and explanations given towards the management of Jerrod's syndrome and medical needs over the years. Dr. Lunge's call to us after learning about Jerrod was greatly appreciated. Huge thanks also to the many caregivers over the years, including those at his second home. Jerrod was very much loved!

Jerrod was predeceased by his Grandparents Barney & Grace Ralph, Grandparents Don & Marcella Bird, Uncle Don & Aunt Teri Bird, and Cousin Tiana McLellan.

He is survived by his parents, David & Cindy Bird, sister Jolene (Dan) Corrigan, nieces Addison & Tuiren, aunts & uncles Coryl (Sandy) Ralph, Terry (Nola) Ralph, Gerry (Cathy) Bird, Patti Bushey, Laine Koshlay, Lori (Dan) Ralph, Laurie (Fred) Mehl, and numerous cousins. He also leaves behind two special roommate friends at his Cranbrook home, Alan & Randy.

Family, friends, and others who lives Jerrod touched are invited to Kimberley Conference Centre on Friday, April 11th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.

In Lieu of flowers, because Jerrod was an avid fan of Emergency Response departments, donations can gratefully be made to his heroes - the Kimberley Firefighters for Muscular Dystrophy; the RCMP Foundation; the Kim Weitzel - Shawn Currier Memorial Fund for Selkirk High School; Kimberley Search and Rescue, or any hero of your choice. Thank you.
