September 11, 1929 - January 3, 2021
John Miller of Kimberley, B.C., passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on January 3, 2021.
John was born in Mimico, Ontario in 1929. In his youth he graduated from Toronto Bible College. Then despite suffering from dyslexia he was able to attain his teaching certification. John was an English Instructor at SAIT in Calgary for over 20 years and held the position of Department Head for more than 10 years.
He loved travelling and was always planning another trip, whether it was fishing, camping with friends and family or travelling to New Zealand where he had a large extended family, Australia, or Arizona for the winter months. John moved to Kimberley, B.C., in 2006 and lived out his remaining years enjoying the great outdoors.
He will be missed by so many for his kindness and love.
John is survived by his wife Christina Philippe, his four children Paul (Vanessa) Miller and their 3 children and families, Valerie (Doug) Shell and their 2 children, Richard (Melanie) Miller and their 5 children, Kathy (Kevin) Brooker and their 3 children and families, and by Christina's 3 children David, Simon, Amy and their families.
A Celebration of Life will be announced when restrictions are lifted, hopefully Summer of 2021.
There's a door that never closes
though it opens but one way
It's the door that leads to heaven
at the end of life's long day.
It's the threshold of forever
where the heart is always glad
it's a respite for the weary
and comfort for the sad.
It's peace and healing
and the door to joy and grace
where the Master greets each guest by name
and with a warm embrace
And loved ones who pass through
into the light that's shining there
find sweet and perfect home
within our Father's loving care.
