In Loving Memory ~
After a brief illness, Linda passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary on October 15, 2022 with family at her side.
Linda was born in Trail, BC but moved not long after with her family to Kimberley where she grew up and received all her schooling. After graduation, Linda relocated to Fort Smith in the Northwest Territories, then to Hay River where she started her family, to Edmonton due to family relocation, to Calgary for advanced education then on to Yellowknife where she established herself as a Manager in the Department of Indian and Inuit Services with the Government of Canada.
She was the principal force behind the development of the NWT Custom Adoption process.
Upon retirement in 2010, they moved South; to Kimberley for the summer months and to their home in Yuma for six months in the winter. Parkas, boots and snow were all in the past! A few years later, unforeseen circumstances saw them selling their place in Yuma, relocating to Calgary and calling it home.
Linda was a member of the Ladies of the Royal Purple branch in Kimberley as well as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. She made good friends wherever she resided. She loved to entertain and was a very good cook when the mood hit her. In her younger years she enjoyed figure skating. Winters in Yuma saw lots of time in and around the pool and "Happy Hour" with friends at the location of the day.
Left to mourn are her husband, John, of 26 years (and her little princess, Fancy), her son Corey of Yellowknife, son Jared (Rhiana) of Calgary and daughter, Rebecca (James)of Mexico, grandchildren Dakota, Kassidy and Max, her brothers, John (Denice) of Wasa and Bill (Kathi) of Prince George, as well as a great grandson, Lennox, godson, Brenton, cousins, nieces and nephews across Canada.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Kimberley, BC.
Our family deeply appreciates all those who have reached out through cards, calls and messages. Your kind words and thoughts during this time are greatly cherished.
