October 5, 1926 - April 25, 2019
On Thursday, April 25, 2019, long time Creston and Cranbrook resident Lois Price (nee Phipps), beloved wife and mother of five, passed away in Kelowna at the age of 92.

Lois was born in Grassy Lake, Alberta on Oct. 5, 1926 but in 1933 moved with her parents and four siblings to West Creston, where her father took on a small farm. After graduation, Lois entered Normal School in Victoria, eventually accepting a teaching position in a one room school house in Mayook, B.C.

She married Stan in 1947 and moved to Cranbrook, giving up teaching to devote herself to marriage and family. After her husband's retirement from the CPR in 1987, Lois and Stan returned to Creston to be closer to her mother. Lois spent countless hours volunteering at the Creston Museum and Archives, located a short stroll from her back door.

After Stan's passing in 2002, Lois moved into a condo near to her sister, Nina, and were joined shortly after by sister Marble, who returned to Creston in 2003. With eldest sister Vi located a short distance away in Whitefish, Montana the Phipps sisters were together once again.

Lois was predeceased by her husband Stan, daughter Brenda, and grandson Dwayne. She is survived by sister Marble, daughter Judy (George) McFeeters, sons Reg (Barb), Don, and Brad (Trish); by grandchildren Kristen, Lori, Kara, Zac, Jolan, Caleb, Shawna, Rochelle and Lucy; by great-grandchildren Johann, Kasmira, Ava, Ella, Indy, Kieran, Kyler and Khade.

A deeply social person who cared for little things, Lois loved to bake, sew and knit and was a dedicated devotee of the jigsaw puzzle. An avid reader she enjoyed romance and mystery novels and using her computer, she stayed in contact with friends and family on Facebook. Lois maintained an interest in her Scandinavian heritage, dedicating many hours to genealogical research, travelling often for family reunions. She loved to travel and made several trips to Australia and New Zealand to visit grandchildren as well as one to Denmark to meet previously unknown relatives. Lois loved children, and was always happy to have little ones around.

A family service will be held sometime in August.
