Lucina Anna Malnis, known to some in the community as Mrs. B, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the age of 96.
She was born in Fontanafredda, Pordenone and came to Canada with her husband, Miro Buttignol in 1952 as Italian immigrants who contributed greatly to our community and Canada.
Lucina was renowned in Kimberley as a classic seamstress, bringing her time, talent and skills from Italy to the benefit of many for years. Her "green thumb" was symbolic of her love for plants, her garden and her endless generosity to others.
She is survived by her daughter Daly McCarten, her husband Tom and their daughter, Emma McCarten. Lucina was predeceased by her husband Miro in 2003, her parents and eight siblings in Italy.
A funeral mass for Lucina was celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kimberley. Her interment will be held at the Kimberley Cemetery in the Spring of 2019.
