April 10, 1936 - February 4, 2021
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Margaret Allen on February 4th, 2021, at the age of 84, in the palliative care unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her 5 children Randy (Kristine), Donald (Karen), Rob (Christine), Yvonne, and Lindsay (Debbie); her 8 grandchildren Mike, Valerie, Johnathan, Kimberly, Madison, Jodie, Jamie, and Quinn, her treasured 5 great-grandchildren Lydia, Rebecca, Dominic, Hunter, and Elliott; her siblings Minnie, Bill, Justina, Adina; and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband Arthur, her brothers Henry and John, and her grandson Demitris.
Margaret was born April 10, 1936, in Hague, Saskatchewan, daughter of John and Maria Bartsch. While working at the hospital in Saskatoon, she met and then married her husband, Arthur Allen. They moved to Asquith, Saskatchewan in 1958, then later to Kimberley, British Columbia in 1970, where together they raised their family.
After the kids had grown, Margaret became 'Grandma Marg' to many young families in Kimberley. Pam and Bruce Nielsen, their 2 daughters, Hayley and Rebecca, and son Chris, held a special place in her heart.
For Margaret, spending time with family and friends was everything. She enjoyed singing with community choirs and harmonizing with the Worship Team at church. She loved playing the piano, crocheting, gardening, square-dancing, clogging, golf, and crib.
Margaret was well known for her delicious homemade bread and buns. She was also a talented seamstress, making clothing for her children and grandchildren, as well as several square-dancing and clogging outfits for herself and others. We are blessed to have so many fond memories of mom.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the family will be planning a "Celebration of Life" service in Kimberley, BC later in the year, when it is safe to do so; details to follow. Condolences, memories and messages may be forwarded to the family at www.firstmemorialnanaimo.com
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to World Vision, an organization Margaret lovingly supported.
