In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peggy Taylor at 66 years of age. Peggy passed away peacefully at home with her husband and daughter by her side. Peggy was born and raised in Kimberley, BC in a family of ten children. Peggy loved to spend time with family and friends and especially loved being at her sister's cabin at Findlay Creek where many family reunions were held. One of her favorite holidays with Vaughn was a road trip they took to Nashville. She was a big country music fan. Peggy loved playing bocci and darts and it was tough to beat her at a game of cribbage. She was an avid bowler for many years. Peggy loved all kinds of animals. You would quite often see a cat or two snuggled up with her in her favorite chair. Peggy worked at a few businesses in Calgary and cooked for a number of years at the Legion where she made many wonderful friends.
Peggy will be lovingly missed by her husband of 14 years, Vaughn Taylor; daughter, Michelle Berkvens; granddaughter, Danielle, all of Calgary. She will also be lovingly missed by her two sisters, Elaine McDonald of Winnipeg and Barb (Bob) Phair of Kimberley; her seven brothers, Gary Smith of Cranbrook, Joel Smith and Doug (Lucille) Smith of Kimberley, Les (Ann) Smith of Victoria, Bob Smith and Richard Smith of Vancouver, and Jim Smith of Calgary. Peggy will also be missed by her husband's family, stepdaughters, Sarah Taylor of Nova Scotia and Kathleen Retallick of New Brunswick; sister-in-law, Charleen Taylor of Fenelon Falls, Ontario and brother-in-law, Wayne Taylor of Burnt River, Ontario; as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored. Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Ken and Lillian Smith; brother-in-law, Don McDonald; nephew, David Smith; and brothers-in-law, Dwight Taylor and Phillip Taylor.
Cremation will take place and Peggy's wish was to have her ashes spread at Findlay Creek on July 21, 2022. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Peggy's memory to The Salvation Army or to The Red Cross. The family wishes to thank Dr. P.A. Mitha and the doctors and nurses at Peter Lougheed Hospital for their care, kindness, and compassion. Arrangements entrusted to Choice Memorial Inc.
