In loving Memory ~

Mike Hayes passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, at the age of 89.

Born in Saskatoon, Mike worked in a uranium mine and with Imperial Oil before earning degrees from the University of Saskatchewan and the University of the Americas in Mexico City. He served 18 years in the Royal Canadian Navy, including as Commanding Officer of HMCS Tecumseh.

Mike taught science at Calgary's Henry Wisewood and Western Canada High Schools and pursued land development in Canmore, Calgary, and Kimberley, B.C., where he later retired.

Mike and his wife Jane embraced mountain life, skiing daily into his 80s and spending winters in Bucerias Mexico and Phoenix Arizona. He was a passionate volunteer at the Sullivan Mine Museum, sharing his love of geology and history.

Predeceased by his five siblings, Mike is survived by Jane, his wife of 58 years, and his beloved nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, generosity, and love of life.
