In Loving Memory ~
Dad was Kimberley's 1929 New Year's Baby. His love of hockey began as a little boy playing with his brother Buzz and neighbourhood friends.
Dad attended Notre Dame in Wilcox, Saskatchewan, 1944-1948 where he played hockey for the Notre Dame Hounds. Later, dad played for the Wembley Lions in England and the Kimberley Dynamiters. Dad also played on the farm team for the New York Rangers.
Dad's love of hockey continued as he coached minor hockey in Kimberley for a few years.
He married former Dutch skating champion and former Olympian, Theresia Cool, Amsterdam, Holland. They were married for 60 years.
Dad spent some years working for Cominco and after retiring from Cominco, he became a businessman and settled in Cranbrook.
Dad is reunited with family that has gone before him; his beloved son David Alexander Mellor, 2004 and wife Theresia, 2011.
Dad is survived by daughter, Maria Stinson (Jim); granddaughters: Maria Priestley (Dan), Alexandria Black, (Russ), Billie Mellor and Kim Thielen (Brett); son, Spencer Mellor (Laurie); grandsons, Brandon Mellor, Lance Davis (Calgary) and Sam Mellor, and 16 great grandchildren.
We would like to thank the nursing and care staff of the Garden View Assisted Living and of the Pines, in Kimberley, for the respect and care you showed Dad and this was truly appreciated.
