He is predeceased by his parents, Janna and Nelson Barnhardt and nephew Michael.

Nelson was born June 30, 1950 in Kimberley, B. C. to Janna and Nelson Barnhardt. He spent a lifetime in the pursuit of the outdoors.

Nelson was a devoted father and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking and snowshoeing. He spent all his days outdoors appreciating all that is nature. He loved to garden and could grow everything well. Nelson loved sharing his knowledge of the outdoors and teaching his hunting skills, fly tying and gardening to those he loved.

He was in his happy place in the outdoors fly fishing and loved spending time with his family. One winter he rescued an orphaned bear cub in mid January and was able to see it released into the wild the next spring. After his retirement he hiked almost every day to feed his birds from his hand which he loved very dearly. He appreciated and respected the animals of the wilderness.

He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. He was a kind and generous person.

In respect of Nelsons wishes a Funeral Service will not be held. Gathering of friends and family will occur in the spring or summer.
