July 29, 1961 - August 4, 2024

In Loving Memory ~

It's with great sadness that we announce the accidental passing of Paul Sacilotto of Victoria, BC, on August 4, 2024. Paul is survived by his wife, of 37 years, Melanie Gillespie, and their two children, Sophie and Jack.

Paul was born on July 29, 1961, in Kimberley, BC, to Marjorie and Lino Sacilotto. Paul was the middle child, brother to Laura (Larry) and Valerie, nephew to Deli (Rebecca), and cousin to their children Mason and Maxine. He was Uncle to Valerie's children Samantha (Matt) and Katie (Stuart), and Great Uncle to baby Declan.

Paul is survived by a large extended family of brother and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Paul grew up in Kimberley BC, where he developed his life-long passion for outdoor activities. With his family, Paul camped, fished and hunted in the Kootenays and undertook a lengthy cross Canada camping trip. He left Kimberley in 1979 to attend the University of Victoria, returning to Kimberley to work in the Cominco (Teck) mine and gardens during the summer.

Following Paul's graduation from UVIC, he completed a business diploma at BCIT, before going on to work for ICBC (Vancouver) for almost 2 decades. Paul left ICBC in 2001 to join the Vancouver consulting firm, Tekara. Paul went on to create his own consulting firm, Integra Strategic Solutions which he operated for almost 20 years, working with a variety of public and private organizations.

Away from work Paul was a devoted father, son, husband and brother. Paul was fortunate to live near his parents, sisters and their families, as he and Melanie raised their children, sharing many laughter-filled visits and meals. Paul was active in his children's lives, coaching both soccer and field hockey, participating in band and volleyball trips and supporting school and music activities.

Together with his wife, children, and close-knit group of friends, Paul pursued his passions for the wilderness, canoe tripping, camping, skiing, and traveling, often to some of Canada's most beautiful and remote places.

Paul will forever be remembered by his family, friends and colleagues for his authenticity, kindness, quick wit, and love of a good joke even if it was at his expense.

In honour of his memory and in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Paul's name to the Victoria Cool Aid Society.

A Celebration of Paul's Life is planned for Wednesday, August 28, at 1:30pm at the Esquimalt Gorge Park Pavilion. Please RSVP to sacilotto01@gmail.com should you wish to join us.
