Pauline "Queenie" Joyce Komm (prev. Sparling, nee Parkinson) was born on November 17th, 1929 in Liverpool England to Harry Parkinson and Annabelle (Lawsen) Parkinson and sister to Jimmy, Lily and Mabel.
For years, Queenie ran a successful Fish and Chips Restaurant at the pier on the Isle of Wight. She was at her best in hosting, serving and being her friendly, carefree, humorous self. The ocean was her home. She had a passion for animals, the need to care for people and an infectious smile that glowed across the globe.
Charles "Sweet Chucko", "El Chuck-o" Paul Komm was born March 25th, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois, USA to Paul Komm and Gladys (Marshall) Komm and brother to Paul, Don and Janita. Survived by daughter Lorelei Komm and son Kermit Komm / grandson Grant Komm all in Paso Robles, CA.
Chuck was in the US Air Force as a young man. His passions were airplanes, bulldogs, and jokes. He practiced his love for laughter world-wide, even if English was not their native language.
Queenie and Chuck met by being pen-pals, connecting through a lonely- hearts section of a magazine. After exchanging numerous letters, Queenie asked to exchange pictures. Chuck sent a picture of a TV star, Tom Selleck. Next thing you know, Chuck was at her doorstep with a bag in hand. Queenie's response was always "bloody cheek" with her strong English accent (English slang meaning the person is rude and insolent). From there on, they got along fabulously, they took care of each other as they enjoyed themselves in Marysville. They traveled extensively by RV. They even made it to Hawaii with Queenie's sister & husband.
Chuck passed away in his home at 92 years of age on January 22, 2018.
Queenie passed away in Cranbrook at 88 years of age on August 21, 2018. Her love for animals was unconditional. Their estate was left to the Cranbrook Branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
A brief interment service will be held at Marysville Cemetery Saturday September 7th at 1 pm.
