In loving memory ~
It is with great sorrow that the family of Robert Angus Niven announces his passing on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
Bob was born in Kimberley, BC on May 1, 1948, the eldest child of Robert and Ann Niven. He grew up with one brother, Brian Niven and started to form bonds with his lifelong friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents Robert and Ann; sister-in-law Barbara; nephews John and Greg and niece Carly. He is survived by his brother Brian (Eileen) Bob started work for Cominco at the Iron Plant. He then started his Automotive apprenticeship with Bud Welk finishing at the top of his class. He worked at several garages in Cranbrook, as well as in Kimberley at Lolly's Texaco and finally at Mister Tire at # 3 Boundary St. Bob's love of cars was apparent from his collection and extensive knowledge. His dear friend Andy Cetinski referred to Bob as the guy who "forgot more than you'll ever know about cars". Daily Bob could be seen walking around town, stopping in for a visit with friends at many shops, stores, and restaurants to share stories of the past.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm @ 3 Boundary Street. There will be a BBQ and Chocolate Cake. Vintage cars are welcome. Bob would love nothing more than to view cars and talk shop.
