Robert John "Bob" West-Sells

Robert John "Bob" West-Sells passed away unexpectedly on July 17, 2019 in Campbell River, BC at the age of 73. Bob was born on August 16, 1945 in Winnipeg, MB to Charles and Lillian. He graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1968 with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation he started his career with Dayton & Knight, a North Vancouver based engineering company. After Bob and his first wife Betty welcomed their first child Paul, he moved his family into a house that he built himself in Gibson, BC.
In 1974, Bob moved to Kimberley, BC where he would spend most of his life. He worked for the City of Kimberley first as the City Engineer, eventually becoming the City Administrator. In Kimberley they welcomed their second child in 1976, a daughter Kristine. Bob moved back to the North Shore of Vancouver in 1990 where he worked for the District of North Vancouver. He retired from the District in 2001 at 56 years of age.
Bob started his retirement by moving back to Kimberley to fulfill a lifetime dream of being a gentleman farmer. As well, Bob served as an Alderman for the City of Kimberley for several years. He stayed in Kimberley until 2011 when he moved to Campbell River.
Bob is survived by his wife Linda; his brother Bill; his first wife Betty; children Paul (Kristin) and Kristine (Chris); step-children Ben (Jane), Lionel (Leigh), Ryley (Jay), Sasha (Adam), Carma (John) and Holly (Sean) as well as grandchildren Henry & Kate; Cole & Annie; Chelsey; Caleb, Charles & John; Jack & Nick; Kyja; Hayden & Eloise; and Mark & Nathan. Bob was a much loved uncle to many nieces and nephews and is also survived and missed by many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. He is predeceased by his parents and by his former wife Jane (Shirley) West-Sells.
Bob will always be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit and unique sense of humour.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Kimberley United Church on August 24, 2019 at 2. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
