1948-2021 ~ Sandy Saver was born in Kimberley, B.C. He was employed by Teck/Cominco for some 35 plus years. During that time, he worked in numerous capacities from labourer, first aid supervisor, claims manager, and human relations manager to name a few.
Sandy enjoyed being challenged and brought his focus and intelligence to work everyday. However, Sandy will be best remembered by who he was as a person, separate from work life or position.
Sandy was a man of immense vitality, and presence, filled with a great love and delight for both life itself and the people, both young and old, in his life. Deeply curious, he was blessed with a capacity for observation and insight that were far from commonplace.
To some he was a warm and engaged man, always ready with his smile, laughter and sense of humour. For others he was wise and compassionate, fully present, completely intentional. His laugh was deep and infectious. He was a true and authentic man.
He passed from this world on February 7, 2021 at home. The world will be a less bright place as his intensity and brightness will be missed and mourned. Sandy had a huge capacity for friendship and all who knew him as a friend felt touched by his presence and generosity of spirit.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Janice (Jan) Bryans, son Dylan (Jess), sister Ann (Barry) Dohms, innumerable friends, and numerous in laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Gyulla Saver and mother Olga (Gordashko) Saver.
Special thanks to both the palliative nursing team whose respect and professionalism far exceeded expectations and Dr's Van Zyll, Budo and Nuala Kerr for all that you did to facilitate Sandy's passing by creating a safe and respectful circle.
There will be no funeral or memorial service. No flowers please. If you feel moved to do something, please contribute to your favorite charity.
