With sadness we announce that Shirley passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at the age of 83.
Shirley was born in the RM of Strathcona (Belmont) in 1937. She met her husband, Arne Egge in Cranbrook, B.C., in the spring of 1955 and they were married on September 30, 1955. Together they had six children and raised their family in Fort Steele, B.C., until they moved to Kimberley, B.C., in 1966. Shirley worked for 26 years at the Kimberley Care Home, "The Pines" since its inception in 1976 until her retirement on February 12, 2002. Shirley will be sadly missed by her family & friends.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Arne Egge, and her five children: Craig (Sheena) Egge, Ann (Terry) Bompas, Gary Egge, Jill Egge and Jan Egge as well as her grandchildren, Hayley, Joel and Crystal and a great grandchild Keaton. Shirley also leaves to mourn her sister Doreen Acorn, brother in law Jim Williamson and her brothers and their wives: Harvey (May) Myers and Dennis (Jessie) Myers along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents George and Mattie Myers, son Terry Egge, brothers Calvin and Lloyd Myers and sisters Gladys Bell, Audrey Williamson, Evelyn Chambers, brother in laws Russ Chambers, Bobby Acorn, Fred Bell and sister in laws Marlene Myers, Shirley Myers and Dorothy Myers.
There will be a private gathering to honour Shirley at a later date. To those who wish may donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one's choice in memory of Shirley.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Budda and her team for their support.
